Cosmetic Laser Therapies

Medical technology allows us to achieve great cosmetic results in the hands of the proper clinician, utilizing lasers rather than a surgical approach which requires more downtime for healing and results. Laser cosmetic procedures are on the rise for many reasons:

Quick Results

Unlike surgical procedures for the face and body that often produce swelling, bruising, bleeding, and crusting, which can mask the final results for weeks, while laser treatments produce less trauma to the face and body, allowing patients a shorter downtime, revealing results much quicker with most treatments.

Minimal to no Downtime

Laser treatments allows patients to resume their day-to-day life almost immediately. From MonaLisa Touch Vaginal Revitalization to SculpSure body contouring, there’s an option that won’t force you into “hiding” for several days, but will still offer remarkable results.

As we know, surgical procedures are more involved with anesthesia and many hands touching the patient from start to finish resulting in a higher price treatment than non-invasive, lesser risk laser treatments.

Performed right in the comfort and convenience of a doctor’s office without general anesthesia, most laser treatments are relatively quick – they sometimes only take 5-10 minutes – and patients are able to drive themselves back to work or home.

Women’s Laser Center of St. Louis is dedicated to providing the most clinically-proven, cutting-edge laser treatments on the market through their use of six distinct Cynosure lasers and RF devices. Laser hair reduction treatments provide a gradual decrease both in thickness and amount of hair in the treated area.* Treatment time can vary, depending on area being treated. Most patients report treatments having low discomfort. Vectus™ laser hair removal only targets hair that is in a stage of active growth, so multiple treatments are needed to remove your unwanted hair completely.

How does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

The PicoSure® laser delivers energy directly targeted to the tattoo ink to remove it faster and in fewer treatments. The PressureWave™ technology unique to this laser works to shatter tattoo ink without causing harm to the surrounding tissue. The ink particles are then naturally expelled from the body through natural processes. This technology is designed to remove all colors of ink on all skin types. The number of treatments needed for complete tattoo removal will vary depending on how heavy handed the artist applied the ink, the color of ink used, the size of the treatment area, and where it’s located on the body. For faster clearance of a tattoo, we recommend a minimum of 8 weeks, preferably 12 weeks between treatments.

What to Expect During Tattoo Removal

Each laser tattoo removal treatment can take as little as 5 minutes to perform. Time varies with size of area being treated. Most patients describe the the discomfort as a rubber band snapping. We are the only PicoSure® treatment provider in St. Louis to offer both topical anesthesia as well as injectable anesthesia resulting in minimal pain and discomfort.

* This is a non-invasive procedure, you may return to most your normal activities following treatment without downtime.

The PicoSure Difference

The PicoSure® laser is a new generation laser, the first picosecond FDA-cleared medical laser that can treat all tattoo colors and skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI).

PicoSure is the world’s first picosecond laser which operates with very fast, actually one trillionth of a second. This speed creates pure energy generation in the form of pressure or pulsed shock wave effect on the tattoo pigments, and results is very little or no heat generation. PicoSure groundbreaking technology is extremely efficient and has become the “Gold Standard” in laser tattoo removal. With this unique technology, an average size tattoo may be 90% cleared in as little as 4 treatments, while the rest of the old technology lasers will result in about 50% clearance and will take as many as 20 treatments and a few years. The near absence of heat injury and damage to healthy skin, means little risk of hypopigmentation seen with the more common lasers such as Q-switched or Nd-YAG.

It is the most advanced laser treatment available for safe and effective tattoo removal, targeting unwanted ink more effectively than ever before by successfully removing difficult ink colors – such as reds, blues and greens with a reduced risk of hypopigmentation (loss of pigment) of the surrounding skin. It’s Boost feature is the perfect solution for removing traces of stubborn previously treated tattoos.

Why Multiple Wavelengths Matter for Tattoo Removal

Like every patient, every tattoo is different. Various wavelengths of energy are needed to remove different colors of ink, as each pigment in the tattoo absorbs a different wavelength. The PicoSure® laser has three different wavelengths, a 755nm, a 532nm and a 1064nm, which allows Women’s Laser Center of St. Louis to treat ALL ink colors and skin types. For example, all colors of ink can be treated by the 755nm wavelength, difficult reds, oranges, and yellows are best treated with a 532nm wavelength in lighter skin types, and the 1064nm wavelength is most ideal for removing black ink from darker skin types.
